Featured on NHK World’s Life in Japan
Ruth (CEO of Jarman International) & Stuart (voice actor who you’ve certainly heard) are the co-hosts of Life in Japan, a radio show that caters towards international communities in Japan and offers a cornucopia of information.
They were kind enough to invite us into the studio the other day to speak with them about our work in rural Japan, provide some tips and tricks to getting along with local communities, and how to go about finding that perfect abandoned house.

The Akiya Hunter Goes Feral
Inaka’s really good for a lot of things, fun included. You know how you have to watch out for all those people and stuff when doing goofy stuff in the city? Yeah, not really the case in the sticks cause there’s no one there to complain.
Recently, Matt headed up to rural Nagano with Tokyo-based production studio Boomachine (here’s their site but it is awful - message them and tell them to fix it, yeah?).
The idea? Something about Game of Thrones, but honestly there wasn’t much of a script so they just grabbed some animal skins, a hatchet, and some torches and did the best they could.
The edit’ll supposedly take a month, but from what we’ve seen so far its, well, you be the judge.
